Miss Earth
Our first of the “Big Four International Beauty Pageants” is Miss Earth, an annual environmental themed international beauty pageant promoting environmental conservation, awareness and social responsibility. It is tied to the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and other organizations. Miss Earth is one of the youngest of the Big 4 starting in 2001. In the first 9 years of inception, the competition was held at various sites in the Philippines but has shared some international locations in Vietnam and Austria. Every year there are just under 100 participating entrants for the competition. Philippines has been awarded Miss Earth 3 times so far in 2015, 2014 and 2008. Let’s take a look at some of the awards presented to the winners and runner ups over the years.

Miss International
The Miss International Pageant was founded in 1960 and is a Japanese based international beauty pageant, chaired by the International Culture Association. It is the 4th largest and part of the Big Four Beauty Pageants. One of Awards Central’s favourite beauty pageants due to the elegantly designed crystal trophy awards, we feature some of our favourite awards designs through the years:

Miss Universe
Starting in 1952 just one year after Miss World was founded, Miss Universe is an annual international beauty pageant that is one of the most watched beauty Pageants in the world with an estimated audience of over 500 million viewers in 190 countries. The pageant's aim is to strive to solve "humanitarian issues and is a voice to affect positive change in the world." Every year there are just under 100 participating countries that send their selected representative to the annual pageant. The finalist winner is awarded a crown (worth up to P200,000,000 in the latest 2019 and 2020 competition – called the Mouawad Power of Unity Crown”) and the regional competitions are awarded with a trophy that has historically been made out of crystal or metal.
Philippines representatives Catriona Gray (2018), Pia Wurtzbach (2015), Margie Moran (1973), Gloria Diaz (1969) have been awarded the Miss Universe Crowns in the past events.

Miss World
Miss World is the oldest running beauty pageant in the world. It was first started in the United Kingdom in 1951. It is considered one of the Big Four International Beauty Pageants. It was founded by Eric Morley, but his widow Julia Morley overtook the chairing of the pageant. Our very own Megan Young of the Philippines managed to bag the Miss World Title in 2013! Here we take a look at some of the highlight trophies over the years of the Miss World Event. Currently there are over 100 participating countries.
